Vranovo Manor House

The manor house´s history dates back to the period around 1500, when it was a small fortress with a moat and belonged to the Palugyay family.

For many years, it was believed that the legendary outlaw captain Juraj Jánošík was imprisoned here during the winter of 1713. However, more recent historical research challenges this belief and suggests that the place of his imprisonment was actually located in what is now the city's historic centre. Today, a statue of Jánošík, erected in 1985, stands in front of the manor house, commemorating this long-standing tradition. The manor house is privately owned and is not open to the public.
To learn more about the life of Juraj Jánošík, visit the exhibitions at the Janko Kráľ Museum, including Jánošík's Torture Chamber and the Courtroom.
