Alojz Štróbl (1856 Kralova Lehota - 1926 Budapešť)
Alojz Štróbl was the first in Hungary to create animal sculptures. Their appearance is very faithful, as his models were real or caught animals. Strobl was also the first Hungarian sculptor to model Emperor Franz Jozef. He created more than 600 sculptures and paintings. One of the most admired is the 12-meter-high monumental fountain group „Fountain of King Matthias“ at Buda Castle, Budapešť. In Liptovský Mikuláš you can also admire his statue “Our Mother”, which is registered in the Louvre, Paris as a creation belonging to the most perfect statues in the world. Its bronze casting can also be found at the entrance to the Liptov Gallery of P. M. Bohúň on Tranovského Street.
