Just a short walk from the historic city centre (1.5 km), you can find yourself in the silence of nature. The Háj-Nicovô Forest Park is an ideal place for a trip with children to chase experiences, knowledge and active relaxation.
The educational trail Nature and Landscape Around Us leads through the forest and is about 1.3 km long. It offers not only fresh air, but also a lot of attractions for the whole family. Children can choose how they want to explore nature – either in the form of educational boards and audio guides
(found here), which bring the forest closer by talking directly to their ears, or through the mobile application Discover Forest Park with augmented reality and a fun quiz with 12 stops
(download here). Each quiz stop is marked with a birdhouse to confirm that the children are on the right path. In augmented reality, children can look forward to three local animals that come to life directly on their mobile.
The tour is made more pleasant by having relax places with picnic seating, a children's playground, an insect hotel and the Stairs of Time, which show the geological layers of the Liptov Basin. The trip ends with a circular view – perfect for taking photos. You can take the same route back, or make a circuit and go down the slightly longer but comfortable asphalt Road of General P. Kuna (about 2 km). The road goes downhill, so you make it in no time and there is no boredom at all. The Forest Park is a place where children learn, discover and at the same time enjoy activities in the fresh air. All this is offered without having to travel far.
Tip for parents with the youngest children
If you want to avoid climbing on foot, take a car along the Road of General P. Kuna to the parking lot at the top of Háj. From there, an asphalt road leads to the Háj-Nicovô Memorial (approx. 470 m), which you can handle with a stroller. Just a short walk from the memorial complex, there is a wooden playground and benches – an ideal place for a short rest in nature.
