Over 300 years ago, Slovak mountains were homes of well-built bandits. They used to wear folk costumes, had long hair in plaits, pistols tucked in belts and carried shepherd´s hatches in their hands. Led by captain Juro Jánošík, they stole guns, money, food, clothes and hid their loot in secret hiding places. That´s why Jánošík was caught, imprisoned in Liptovský Mikuláš, tortured, tried and finally hanged on gallows.
